The ESS-200 should be specified to protect electronic equipment that is connected to a standard 10Base-T ethernet line. The ESS-200 provides protection on pins 1 and 2 and pins 3 and 6 of the modular jack interface (two pairs).

The ESS-200 is a very heavy duty Ethernet line surge suppressor designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from damage caused by voltage transients appearing on an ethernet line. The ESS-200 is designed to protect equipment that is connected to a standard 10Base-T ethernet line. Designed using the proven technology of our TSS-200 TELCO suppressor, it is ideal for harsh environments (e.g. electric utility substations).

What distinguishes the ESS-200 from other suppressors is our unique two-stage design. Very high speed bi-directional SIDACTORsTM work in combination with three-element heavy-duty gas discharge tubes to provide a suppressor that has an extremely fast response time yet can also dissipate large amounts of energy. Ultra-fast switch-mode rectifiers are used to reduce the ESS-200 shunt capacitance. Inter-stage wirewound resistors provide better surge current handling than competing carbon-film designs. Wide PC board traces and ground planes provide additional surge handling capability. A standard 36-inch CAT 5 jumper cable is included.
